PART 2: The Sea Monster Bowed to the Girl Everyone Feared
The arena stood silent.
No cheering.
No shouting.
Only the sound of water dripping from ancient stone.
The gigantic creature remained still.
Massive head lowered beneath trembling lantern light.
Its glowing eyes fixed on the young woman.
Watching.
Remembering.
The crowd shifted uneasily.
Fear spread like wildfire across the towering steps.
Because monsters did not kneel.
Not here.
Not ever.
The blonde woman stood motionless in the freezing water.
Hand resting gently against scarred scales.
Her breathing slowed.
The fear in her face had vanished.
Replaced by something stranger.
Sadness.
Recognition.
“You’re hurt,” she whispered softly.
Her fingers brushed the clouded eye.
The creature let out a low rumble.
Not rage.
Not hunger.
Pain.
Old pain.
Deep enough to shake the water around them.
Far above—
a nobleman stepped backward.
“No…”
His voice trembled.
“That creature slaughtered soldiers.”
Another whispered,
“Why is it obeying her?”
At the highest balcony—
a hooded ruler rose slowly from a carved throne.
Expression unreadable.
Cold fingers tightening around dark stone.
Because only one person had ever calmed the beast before.
And according to history—
she drowned centuries ago.
The young woman closed her eyes briefly.
Then quietly—
almost instinctively—
she began humming.
Soft.
Fragile.
Ancient.
A melody no one recognized.
But the creature did.
Instantly.
Its enormous body stilled completely.
Water stopped shaking.
The glowing eyes softened.
Then—
something impossible happened.
The giant beast lowered itself even farther.
Until its head rested gently against her shoulder.
Like a wounded animal finally home.
Gasps spread through the arena.
One guard dropped his spear.
“She’s controlling it…”
“No,” an old priest whispered fearfully.
His face pale.
“She belongs to it.”
The woman opened her eyes slowly.
Fragments of memory flashing violently through her mind.
A shoreline beneath moonlight.
Laughter.
A younger version of herself.
And beside her—
this same creature.
Smaller then.
Protective.
Waiting.
A voice echoed faintly in memory:
“If they ever come for you… find me.”
Her breath caught.
“No…”
The creature rumbled again.
Its wounded eye watching her carefully.
Then suddenly—
chains hidden beneath the water snapped tight.
Metal groaned violently.
The creature roared.
Pain exploding through the chamber.
The woman stumbled backward.
Confused.
Terrified.
“What are you doing?!”
Above—
the hooded ruler stepped forward.
Slowly removing the hood.
An older woman.
Cold eyes.
Royal markings across silver robes.
The queen.
And unlike everyone else—
she looked furious.
Not shocked.
Not confused.
Furious.
“You remember too much,” the queen said coldly.
The crowd turned in disbelief.
The blonde woman stared upward.
“What?”
The queen raised one hand.
Suddenly—
massive iron gates slammed shut around the arena.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Locking everyone inside.
Panic spread instantly.
Guards rushed forward.
The queen’s voice thundered across the chamber.
“She was never supposed to survive!”
Silence crashed down.
The woman froze.
The creature growled deeply beside her.
Protective now.
Dangerous.
The queen pointed directly at her.
Voice shaking with anger.
“Twenty years ago—”
her eyes darkened,
“we drowned you for a reason.”
The lanterns flickered violently.
And somewhere beneath the water—
something else began moving.
Something bigger.
Something hungry.
