PART 2: The Wolf Refused to Harm the Girl

The arena stood frozen.

Cold wind swept across the sand while weathered banners snapped high above the stunned crowd. Hundreds of villagers stared in complete silence at the impossible sight before them.

The colossal white wolf remained lowered before the trembling child.

Head bowed.

Still.

Respectful.

Like the terrified little girl standing barefoot in the sand was someone far greater than anyone realized.

The Viking leader’s grin vanished.

Confusion darkened his face.

“What is this?” he growled.

The wolf ignored him completely.

Instead—

Its massive nose brushed gently against the girl’s trembling hand.

A soft sound escaped the creature.

Not threatening.

Protective.

The little girl stood frozen.

Fear slowly gave way to confusion.

Behind her, the crowd shifted uneasily.

“That beast kills everything,” someone whispered.

The Debt That Set Them Free

“It obeys no one,” another muttered nervously.

Even the guards gripping spears near the gates slowly stepped backward.

Because every person there knew the truth—

The white wolf had never spared anyone.

Not once.

Then the deep voice echoed again from above the arena.

“Stop the judgment.”

Every head turned.

Standing high atop the wooden stairs overlooking the battleground stood a tall man wrapped in a dark fur cloak soaked by the cold wind. A weathered sword rested against his side while silver threaded through his beard.

His expression remained calm.

Unshaken.

But his eyes—

Locked directly onto the little girl.

The Viking leader’s face twisted immediately.

“You dare interrupt me?” he thundered.

The man descended the wooden steps slowly.

Steady.

Unafraid.

The crowd parted instinctively as he walked toward the center of the arena.

Even the wolf watched him.

The Fall That Changed Everything

Waiting.

“You call this judgment?” the stranger asked calmly. “Against a child?”

The Viking leader slammed the butt of his axe into the sand.

“She carries cursed blood.”

The little girl lowered her head.

Fresh fear returned to her eyes.

But the stranger crouched slowly beside her.

Gentle.

Careful.

For the first time—

He noticed the faint cross-shaped scars near her chest.

His expression changed instantly.

Recognition.

Shock.

Then something deeper.

He slowly lifted his eyes toward the wolf.

The creature lowered itself even farther.

Like it already knew.

The stranger stood again.

Cold fury entered his face.

“You fools,” he said quietly.

The arena fell silent.

The Viking leader stepped forward aggressively.

“What are you talking about?”

The man looked toward the frightened child standing beside the giant wolf.

Then spoke words that seemed to drain all sound from the world.

“She isn’t cursed.”

A pause.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

“She belongs to the Bloodline.”

Whispers exploded through the arena.

The old gray-bearded elder near the crowd suddenly stumbled backward.

“No…” he whispered shakily.

The Viking leader frowned.

“What bloodline?”

The stranger’s voice lowered.

Steady.

Certain.

“The ones who commanded wolves.”

Silence crushed the arena.

Because suddenly—

The giant beast beside the little girl no longer looked wild.

It looked loyal.

And deep in the crowd—

Fear quietly began replacing doubt.
