PART 2: The Mob Boss Discovered the Child Was His Daughter
Thunder crashed across the Los Angeles mansion while silence spread through Victor Kane’s enormous office.
The feared mob boss stared at the soaked little girl standing before him, unable to breathe.
Emma Carter.
A name he buried years ago beneath violence, regret, and power.
The little girl hugged her torn teddy bear tighter.
“My mommy said you would help me if something bad happened.”
Victor’s hardened expression cracked slightly.
Because Emma once said those exact words to him during the last night he ever saw her alive.
The guards exchanged uneasy looks while rain hammered against the mansion windows.
Victor slowly knelt in front of the child.
“What’s your name?”
“Sophie.”
His chest tightened instantly.
Because Emma always loved that name.
Then Victor noticed something hanging around the girl’s neck.
A silver locket.
His locket.
The one he gave Emma twenty years earlier.
With trembling hands, he opened it carefully.
Inside—
a tiny photograph of him and Emma together beneath the Santa Monica pier.
Victor froze completely.
The room suddenly felt colder.
The little girl looked up at him nervously.
“Mommy said you’d recognize it.”
The feared crime boss lowered his head as emotion finally shattered through him.
Because the child standing in front of him…
was his daughter.
One of the guards quietly stepped backward in disbelief.
Nobody in Los Angeles had ever seen Victor Kane emotional.
But now tears slowly filled his eyes.
“What happened to your mother?” he whispered.
Sophie’s lips trembled.
“She was scared all the time.”
Victor’s jaw tightened instantly.
“She said bad men were looking for us.”
The mansion grew silent except for thunder rolling outside.
Then Sophie carefully reached inside the teddy bear and pulled out a folded envelope.
“My mommy said to only give this to you.”
Victor opened it with shaking hands.
The moment he recognized Emma’s handwriting—
rage exploded behind his eyes.
If Sophie reaches you…
it means they found me first.
Victor’s breathing slowed dangerously.
Because at the bottom of the letter—
Emma wrote three names.
Men connected to Victor’s old criminal empire.
Men he once trusted.
The mob boss slowly stood to his feet while the entire mansion watched the transformation happen in real time.
Grief disappeared.
Only fury remained.
Victor handed the letter to his guards.
His voice turned ice cold.
“Lock the gates.”
Thunder shook the windows again.
Then Victor looked down at the little girl who carried the last piece of Emma back into his life.
And for the first time in years—
the most feared man in Los Angeles had something to protect.
