The Ride Before Sunrise

The cabin stayed quiet as the fire crackled.

The young woman looked at the cowboy with trembling hope.

“You really believe she’s alive?”

He nodded once.

“Garrett keeps people alive when he can use them.”

Before dawn, a horse galloped into the yard.

An elderly ranch hand climbed down, breathless.

“I escaped.”

He handed the cowboy a rough map.

“I know where your sister is.”

The woman stared at the drawing.

“That cabin…”

“She carved that mark into the wall when we were children.”

The cowboy folded the map and secured his rifle across his saddle.

“Then we don’t have time to waste.”

The woman stepped beside him.

“I’m coming too.”

He looked at the rising sun beyond the pines.

“Today… your sister comes home.”
