The Wrath Beneath the Waves
The storm froze.
Not because the wind stopped—
but because the sea itself had become still.
The Sea Goddess rose above the water, suspended within a pillar of blue light that turned night into day. Ancient sea creatures circled beneath her, their glowing eyes fixed on the trembling shoreline.
The commander who had ordered her execution dropped his sword.
It vanished into the surf.
“Mercy…” he whispered.
The goddess looked down at him.
At the knights.
At the villagers who had cheered when she was thrown into the sea.
Her face showed neither anger nor hatred.
Only disappointment.
And somehow, that was worse.
The ocean began to rise.
Massive walls of water towered over the cliffs, casting the entire coastline into shadow. People screamed and fled, but there was nowhere to run.
The sea had already surrounded them.
Then the goddess lifted one hand.
The waves stopped.
Frozen in place.
A kingdom balanced between destruction and survival.
“You judged what you did not understand,” her voice echoed across the coast. “And condemned the innocent to satisfy your fear.”
Lightning flashed across the sky.
The commander fell to his knees.
“We were wrong!”
The goddess’s glowing eyes narrowed.
“Yes,” she said quietly.
For a moment, everyone expected the sea to destroy them.
Instead, the waters slowly lowered.
The monsters retreated beneath the waves.
The storm began to fade.
Relief spread through the crowd—
until the goddess spoke again.
“The sea grants forgiveness.”
The villagers looked up hopefully.
“But it never forgets.”
The cliffs trembled.
Far out on the horizon, an ancient city of gold and crystal began rising from the ocean depths.
And as the people stared in awe, they realized a terrifying truth:
The woman they had tried to kill was not returning to rule them.
She had come to replace them.
