PART 2: The Little Girl Found the Man Called Ghost
Thunder exploded outside the roadside diner while every customer sat frozen in stunned silence.
The barefoot little girl remained seated across from the massive scarred biker, clutching her stuffed rabbit tightly against her chest.
“I think my mommy is dying…”
Ghost stared at the folded note trembling in her tiny hands.
Nobody inside the diner dared speak.
Because the feared biker known as Ghost looked shaken for the first time anyone had ever seen.
Slowly—
he reached for the note.
Rainwater dripped from the child’s soaked pajamas onto the floor as she whispered:
“She said you would help us.”
Ghost unfolded the paper carefully.
The moment he recognized the handwriting—
all color drained from his face.
A waitress nearby quietly covered her mouth.
Because the terrifying biker suddenly looked heartbroken.
The note contained only one sentence.
If Lily found you… it means I ran out of time.
Ghost closed his eyes briefly.
Like the words physically hurt him.
The little girl studied him nervously.
“You know my mommy?”
For several seconds, the biker couldn’t answer.
Then finally—
his rough voice cracked slightly.
“What’s her name?”
“Emma.”
The diner fell completely silent.
Ghost slowly leaned back in the booth as memories crashed into him all at once.
Emma.
The woman he once loved before disappearing into the outlaw life years earlier.
The woman he believed safer without him.
And now—
her daughter sat across from him during a thunderstorm asking for help.
Ghost looked at the child more carefully.
Same eyes.
Same nervous habit of squeezing her hands when scared.
His expression tightened painfully.
“How sick is she?”
Lily lowered her head.
“She coughs blood now.”
Several customers exchanged horrified looks.
The little girl swallowed hard before continuing.
“She made me memorize your name before she couldn’t talk anymore.”
Ghost’s hands tightened around the note.
“Where is she?”
“At our trailer near Black Creek Road.”
Lightning flashed across the diner windows.
Then suddenly—
a truck slowed outside.
Lily instantly panicked.
“That’s him!”
Ghost’s eyes snapped toward the parking lot.
A heavyset man climbed from the vehicle and started scanning the diner through the rain.
The little girl began trembling violently.
“He wants Mommy’s medicine money.”
The biker stood up immediately.
And the entire diner seemed smaller once Ghost reached his full height.
Chairs creaked softly as nervous customers moved aside.
The man outside spotted Lily through the glass.
Then started toward the entrance.
Ghost calmly removed his leather jacket and draped it over the child’s shoulders.
“You stay behind me.”
The diner door burst open.
Wind and rain exploded inside.
The man pointed instantly.
“There she is.”
But the moment he noticed Ghost standing in front of her—
his confidence disappeared.
Because everyone in three counties knew the rumors about Ghost.
And none of them were good.
The biker stepped forward slowly.
Cold eyes.
Scarred face.
Absolute silence.
“What do you want with the girl?”
The man hesitated.
“That’s… family business.”
Ghost glanced back toward Lily clutching the stuffed rabbit behind him.
Then he looked at the man again.
“No.”
Thunder shook the building.
“She’s my business now.”
The entire diner froze.
Because somehow, against all odds—
the little girl had found exactly the person her dying mother trusted most.
The man named Ghost.
And for the first time in many years—
the feared biker had something to protect again.
