PART 2: The Wedding Hall Turns Silent

Adrian Vale didn’t move at first.

He stayed kneeling on the marble floor, one hand hovering just above Elena as if afraid even touching her might confirm something irreversible.

Then slowly—

His gaze lifted.

Not to Elena.

To Victoria.

The air in the hallway changed instantly.

The white roses, the gold accents, the perfect wedding preparation—all of it suddenly felt fake in a way no one had noticed before.

Victoria let out a small, controlled laugh.

“Adrian, she’s emotional. You know how servants can be—”

“Stop.”

The single word cut through the hall.

Not loud.

Final.

Even the staff in the distance froze mid-step.

Adrian stood slowly, keeping himself between Elena and Victoria without looking away from her for a second.

“Say it again,” he said quietly.

Victoria’s smile tightened. “This is absurd—”

“Elena,” Adrian interrupted, voice lower now. “Did she hurt you?”

Elena hesitated.

The Debt That Set Them Free

That hesitation said everything.

Tears spilled faster down her cheeks as she nodded once.

Barely.

The sound Victoria made next wasn’t quite a laugh anymore.

It was panic pretending to be control.

“You’re going to believe her over me?” she snapped. “On our wedding day?”

Adrian didn’t answer.

He was already taking off his jacket.

Carefully, he wrapped it around Elena’s shoulders himself, shielding her trembling body from the cold marble floor and from every pair of watching eyes.

Then he spoke without looking back.

“Call the doctor,” he said to no one in particular.

A guard hesitated.

“Sir—”

“Call. The. Doctor.”

Now.

The guard moved instantly.

Victoria stepped forward, voice rising.

“You’re humiliating me in front of everyone—”

Adrian finally turned his head slightly.

Just enough for her to see his face.

The Fall That Changed Everything

And whatever she saw there made her stop mid-sentence.

Because there was no confusion anymore.

No doubt.

Only something cold and steady forming behind his eyes.

“You touched her,” Adrian said quietly.

Victoria swallowed.

“It was an accident.”

A beat of silence.

Then Adrian spoke again.

“Accidents don’t push pregnant women down stairs.”

The hallway went dead quiet.

Elena flinched slightly as Adrian gently guided her toward the nearest chair, keeping her steady with one hand.

Victoria’s voice sharpened.

“You’re choosing a maid over me?”

Adrian finally looked directly at her.

And this time, there was no emotion left in his expression at all.

“I’m choosing truth,” he said.

A pause.

Then, softer—

“And my child.”

The words landed harder than any shout could have.

Victoria’s face drained of color as realization set in too late.

Behind her, the wedding planner slowly stepped back.

One of the guests turned away.

Someone else quietly reached for their phone.

And in the center of the perfect mansion—

everything started to fall apart.
