PART 2: The Heir Beneath the Golden Kingdom
The giant golden doors slammed shut behind Ayaan with a deafening BOOM.
Dust rained from the ancient ceiling.
The sound echoed endlessly through the hidden treasure chamber while the poor boy stood frozen before the massive throne.
The old Maharaja remained perfectly still.
His glowing eyes never blinked.
Never moved.
Only watched.
Ayaan tightened his grip on the torch.
“I-I think you made a mistake,” he whispered nervously. “I’m nobody.”
The ancient king’s expression darkened slightly.
“No,” he said calmly.
“You were hidden.”
The golden chamber suddenly trembled.
Mountains of treasure glittered beneath flickering torchlight while strange glowing symbols slowly awakened across the walls.
Ayaan stepped backward.
“Who are you?”
The Maharaja slowly rose from the throne.
The sound of ancient gold armor scraping against stone filled the chamber.
For a moment, the boy forgot how to breathe.
Because the old king did not move like a weak man.
He moved like something untouched by time itself.
“I was the last ruler of Suryagarh,” the Maharaja said.
“The kingdom buried beneath this jungle.”
Ayaan looked around the impossible chamber in disbelief.
The lost golden kingdom from the old stories…
was real.
The king slowly descended the throne steps.
“And you,” he continued quietly, “carry the blood of my family.”
Ayaan shook his head instantly.
“That’s impossible. I grew up begging in the streets.”
The Maharaja stopped directly before him.
Then slowly lifted a trembling hand toward the boy’s neck.
Around Ayaan’s throat hung a tiny broken pendant he had worn his entire life.
The old king stared at it silently.
Pain filled his ancient eyes.
“That symbol belonged to my daughter.”
Ayaan froze.
“My… mother?”
The Maharaja closed his eyes briefly.
“Your mother escaped the massacre the night our kingdom fell.”
The chamber darkened.
Far above them, thunder rumbled through the jungle ruins.
“The traitors hunted every royal child,” the king continued. “So she hid you among the poor where nobody would ever search for a prince.”
Prince.
The word echoed inside Ayaan’s mind like a dream.
“No…” he whispered.
But before the Maharaja could answer—
A loud horn suddenly echoed through the tunnels outside the chamber.
The old king’s expression instantly changed.
Fear.
Real fear.
“They found the door.”
Ayaan turned toward the sealed entrance nervously.
“Who found us?”
The Maharaja looked toward the darkness beyond the treasure room.
“The men who destroyed our kingdom.”
Suddenly—
Heavy impacts slammed against the giant golden doors.
BOOM.
BOOM.
Dust exploded from the walls.
Voices shouted from outside in a language Ayaan didn’t recognize.
The old king moved faster than humanly possible and grabbed a massive golden sword from beside the throne.
Its blade ignited with glowing fire the moment he touched it.
Ayaan stared in shock.
“You’re not just a king…”
The Maharaja’s eyes burned brighter in the darkness.
“No.”
Another violent crash shook the chamber doors.
Cracks began spreading across the ancient gold.
The old ruler stepped protectively in front of Ayaan.
For the first time in centuries…
the last king of Suryagarh prepared for war again.
And somewhere beyond the collapsing doors…
the enemies who wiped out an entire kingdom had finally come to finish the bloodline forever.
