PART 2: What Was Waiting Beneath the Ship
Rain hammered the steel deck of the military ship as soldiers rushed toward the railing in stunned disbelief.
“She jumped!”
“Get rescue divers!”
“Move!”
But Commander Adrian Vale never moved.
He stood perfectly still beneath the storm.
Watching the black ocean.
Watching the place where she disappeared.
And slowly—
his expression changed.
Not shock.
Recognition.
Below the raging surface, Mira Voss sank deeper into the dark teal water, her black tank top drifting weightlessly around her as chains of bubbles spiraled upward toward fading gray light.
Her lungs burned.
Her vision blurred.
But she never panicked.
Because this wasn’t escape.
It was timing.
Far above, lightning flashed across violent clouds while soldiers searched the water with spotlights.
“She’s gone!”
“No visual!”
“Current’s pulling her under!”
Then suddenly—
something moved beneath her.
Massive.
Fast.
Several shapes emerged silently from the darkness below the ship.
Divers.
Not military.
Black suits. No markings. No lights.
Mira’s eyes widened weakly.
One diver grabbed her arm.
Another pressed a breathing mask against her face.
And then—
a voice crackled softly through underwater comms.
“We found Subject Nine.”
Above deck, Commander Vale finally spoke for the first time since she jumped.
“Seal the lower hatches.”
Nearby officers froze.
“Sir?”
Vale’s pale blue eyes remained locked on the ocean.
“She made contact.”
The words sent visible panic through several senior crew members instantly.
One lieutenant stepped closer nervously.
“You knew someone was waiting for her?”
Vale answered quietly.
“No.”
His jaw tightened.
“I knew she’d try.”
Thunder exploded overhead.
Then alarms suddenly screamed across the ship.
RED WARNING LIGHTS flooded the deck.
One terrified sailor grabbed the railing.
“CONTACT BELOW US!”
The ocean beside the carrier erupted violently.
Soldiers stumbled backward as an enormous black shape surfaced through the crashing waves beside the ship.
Not a submarine.
Too smooth.
Too advanced.
Dark steel emerged silently from beneath the water like a monster rising from the abyss.
No visible flag.
No visible numbers.
Just a glowing white insignia near the hull—
a circle crossed by a vertical line.
Commander Vale went pale.
One exhausted marine whispered in horror:
“…that program was shut down.”
But Vale already knew the truth.
Because twenty years earlier—
he helped create it.
Below the surface, Mira regained consciousness inside a dim underwater chamber lit by red emergency lights.
Water poured from her soaked hair as armored personnel surrounded her silently.
One figure stepped forward through the shadows.
Older.
Gray-haired.
Scar across one eye.
Mira stared in disbelief.
“…General Mercer?”
The old man removed a pair of black gloves slowly.
“They told the world we were dead,” he said calmly.
Above them, the military ship trembled violently as hidden engines awakened beneath the ocean.
Mercer looked directly into Mira’s eyes.
“But some wars,” he said quietly, “never actually ended.”
Back on the carrier deck, terrified soldiers aimed rifles toward the enormous vessel rising beside them.
But Commander Vale lowered his weapon instead.
Because he recognized the insignia.
Recognized the design.
Recognized the nightmare returning from beneath the sea.
And for the first time in years—
Adrian Vale looked afraid.
Then the unknown vessel’s massive steel doors slowly began to open beneath the storm-dark ocean sky.
And something inside started moving.
