The Pendant Around Her Neck
The little girl stayed in the biker’s arms.
Holding him tightly.
As if she had known him forever.
The biker wiped away his tears.
Then something caught his eye.
A small silver pendant.
Hanging around her neck.
His smile faded.
Slowly, he picked it up.
His fingers began to shake.
“Where did you get this?”
The little girl looked down.
“My daddy put it on me.”
“He said never take it off.”
The biker carefully opened the pendant.
Inside was a tiny photograph.
Two young bikers.
Standing shoulder to shoulder.
One was Michael.
The other was him.
The biker’s breath caught.
Hidden behind the photo was a folded note.
Barely large enough to fit.
He unfolded it carefully.
The faded handwriting made his eyes fill with tears.
“If you’re reading this, she found you.”
“She isn’t just my daughter anymore.”
“She’s yours to protect too.”
The biker lowered the pendant.
Unable to speak.
The little girl watched him quietly.
Then asked the question that broke his heart.
“So…”
“Does that mean you’re my uncle now?”
A smile appeared through his tears.
He gently kissed her forehead.
“No, sweetheart.”
He looked toward the circle of bikers gathering around them.
Then back at her.
“It means you’ve got a whole family now.”
One by one—
the bikers stepped forward.
Each placing a hand on her shoulder.
Making the same silent promise.
The little girl looked around.
No longer frightened.
No longer alone.
Because her father’s final wish—
had just come true.
