Small footsteps rushed behind him.
👧 “Officer!”
The policeman turned around.
The little girl stood there, breathing hard, holding her teddy bear tightly.
Tears still filled her eyes.
👧 “Mom wants to say thank you.”
He smiled gently and followed her back.
But the moment he stepped into the hospital room—

The young mother froze.

Her trembling lips barely moved.

The officer stood motionless.

The officer knelt beside her.
👧 “I wished for a daddy on Christmas.”
David’s eyes filled with tears.
Sarah covered her mouth.
Neither knew what to say.

Christmas Eve arrived.
Snow covered the streets.
Inside the same hospital room, Sarah had finally recovered.
As mother and daughter prepared to leave—
they stepped outside and froze.
The police department stood waiting.
Officers lined both sides of the sidewalk.
Christmas lights decorated their patrol cars.
And standing beside a giant teddy bear…
was Officer David.
The little girl gasped.
👧 “You came!”
David smiled.
Then slowly knelt down and held out a small gift.
Inside was a framed photograph.

But of the three of them together.
Taken only days earlier.
His voice trembled.
👮 “I missed a lot of Christmases.”
👮 “If it’s okay with you…”
👮 “I’d like to spend the next ones together.”
The little girl threw herself into his arms.
👧 “Does that mean you’ll be my daddy?”
David looked toward Sarah.
Tears streamed down both their faces.
Sarah smiled and nodded.
