The Tattoo on His Arm
The old man reached for the burger.
His hands shaking slightly.
Not from fear.
From gratitude.
Then—
the biker rolled up his sleeve.
A faded tattoo visible on his arm.
The old man’s eyes widened.
His breath caught.
He knew that tattoo.
A small eagle.
Inside a circle.
Worn by time.
But unmistakable.
The biker noticed.
“What is it?”
The old man stared.
Unable to answer at first.
Then slowly—
he pulled a photograph from his jacket.
Old.
Creased.
Nearly falling apart.
He handed it over.
The biker looked down.
Two young soldiers stood side by side.
Smiling at the camera.
One of them had the exact same tattoo.
The biker frowned.
Confused.
“Who is he?”
The old man’s voice cracked.
“My best friend.”
The biker looked closer.
Then froze.
Because written on the back—
was a name.
The same name as his father.
His heart started racing.
He looked up.
Speechless.
The old man smiled sadly.
A tear forming in his eye.
“I haven’t seen him in thirty years.”
The biker swallowed hard.
Then reached into his wallet.
Pulling out a family picture.
He handed it over.
The old man’s hands trembled.
Because standing in the photo—
older now—
was the same soldier.
The same friend.
The same man he’d spent thirty years missing.
The biker’s voice was barely a whisper.
“That’s my dad.”
Silence.
The old man’s eyes filled with tears.
And for the first time in decades—
he realized the stranger beside him
wasn’t a stranger at all.
