The Designer Revealed a Truth That Stunned Everyone
The ballroom remained completely silent.
Every guest stared at the grey-haired designer.
The woman in red could barely speak.
“Sir… I thought it was a fake,” she muttered.
The designer’s eyes narrowed.
“You thought wrong.”
He gently lifted the damaged fabric and examined the torn strap.
His expression grew even darker.
“This gown is one of a kind.”
A wave of whispers spread through the crowd.
The woman in grey lowered her head, struggling to hold back tears.
The designer turned toward her.
“Miss, please tell me your name.”
“Claire,” she replied softly.
The designer nodded.
“Claire, do you know why this dress was made?”
She shook her head.
“It was a gift from my grandmother.”
The designer suddenly froze.
“A gift from your grandmother?”
Claire nodded.
“She passed away three months ago. This was the last thing she left for me.”
The designer’s hands began to tremble.
Guests exchanged confused looks.
Something had clearly changed.
Slowly, the designer reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out an old photograph.
He looked at it for several seconds before showing it to Claire.
The moment she saw it, her eyes widened.
The woman standing beside the designer in the picture was her grandmother.
“How do you have this?” Claire asked.
The designer swallowed hard.
“Because she was my first client.”
Gasps echoed throughout the ballroom.
The designer explained that decades earlier, a young woman had walked into his tiny workshop when nobody knew his name.
She believed in his talent before anyone else did.
She purchased his very first custom design and encouraged him to pursue his dream.
Without her support, his fashion empire might never have existed.
Tears filled Claire’s eyes.
“She never told me that.”
“She never wanted credit,” the designer replied.
“She simply wanted to help people.”
The room fell silent once again.
Then the designer slowly turned toward the woman in red.
His voice became cold.
“You destroyed a dress without knowing its story.”
The woman lowered her gaze.
“I… I’m sorry.”
But the designer wasn’t finished.
He looked around the ballroom.
“There is something all of you should know.”
The guests leaned forward.
“This gown is not valuable because of the fabric.”
He gently placed a hand on Claire’s shoulder.
“It is valuable because it carries the memory of a woman whose kindness changed countless lives.”
Many guests wiped tears from their eyes.
Even the woman in red looked ashamed.
Then a staff member suddenly rushed into the ballroom holding a sealed envelope.
“Mr. Laurent,” the staff member said breathlessly.
“This was delivered for Claire just a few minutes ago.”
Confused, Claire accepted the envelope.
Her hands shook as she opened it.
Inside was a handwritten letter from her late grandmother.
And attached to the letter was a document that made her heart stop.
Claire stared at it in disbelief.
“What is it?” the designer asked.
She looked up, completely speechless.
According to the document, her grandmother had left behind a secret inheritance that nobody knew existed.
And the first clue to finding it was hidden inside the very dress that had just been destroyed.
