PART 2: The Queen Who Would Not Kneel
Inside the ancient Egyptian palace hall—
the silence remained unbearable beneath the flickering torchlight.
The white serpent continued gliding slowly across Cleopatra’s jeweled body while Roman guards stood frozen beside the sacred bier.
Its pale scales shimmered like moonlight against gold.
No one dared breathe.
Then suddenly—
a low metallic sound echoed through the chamber.
CLANG.
One Roman guard tightened his grip nervously on his spear.
Another slowly stepped backward beneath the towering stone pillars.
Because something had changed.
The serpent stopped moving.
Its head slowly lifted beside Cleopatra’s face.
Torch flames flickered violently against the dark walls while cold wind whispered through the ancient palace hall.
Then—
Cleopatra’s fingers moved.
The nearest Roman guard froze instantly.
His eyes widened in terror beneath the polished gold helmet.
“No…”
The whisper barely escaped his lips.
Slowly—
the Egyptian queen inhaled.
A long cold breath.
The white serpent curled protectively beside her neck as Cleopatra’s dark eyes opened beneath the enormous jeweled crown.
Gasps echoed through the chamber.
One Roman guard stumbled backward in fear.
Another lowered his spear instinctively.
Because the woman lying before them no longer looked dead.
She looked eternal.
Cleopatra slowly lifted her head while heavy gold jewelry shimmered beneath the firelight.
Her expression remained calm.
Almost divine.
The serpent rested silently across her shoulders like a living crown.
Outside the palace chamber—
distant thunder rolled across Alexandria.
Torch flames bent violently in the sudden wind.
Then slowly—
the queen sat upright upon the red velvet bier.
The Roman soldiers immediately dropped to one knee in terror.
None of them could explain what they were seeing.
The ancient palace itself seemed alive around her.
Stone shadows moved.
Torches crackled louder.
Dark orchestral music swelled through the sacred hall.
Cleopatra’s eyes lifted toward the towering entrance of the chamber.
And there—
beyond the endless stone pillars—
Roman banners burned outside against the night sky.
War had reached Egypt.
Again.
One trembling Roman guard lowered his head completely.
“Queen Cleopatra…”
Her gaze never left the burning horizon beyond the palace walls.
Then softly—
with a voice colder than the tomb itself—
she finally spoke.
“Tell Rome…”
The white serpent tightened slowly around her golden collar.
“…Egypt remembers.”
