PART 2: The Sea Monster Called Her Mother
The black sea fell completely silent.
No waves.
No thunder.
No wind.
Thousands standing along the cliffs of Valdoria stared down into the motionless abyss with growing terror spreading across their faces.
Because the ocean had stopped obeying nature itself.
King Edric stepped backward from the cliff edge slowly.
“What have we done…?”
Below the surface—
Lyra floated helplessly before the ancient creature.
Its glowing blue eyes were larger than castle towers.
Black scales stretched endlessly into the darkness beneath her.
The monster should not have existed.
No living thing could be that enormous.
Yet it bowed before her.
“Mother…”
The word echoed through the abyss like the voice of the sea itself.
Lyra trembled violently.
“I… I’m not your mother.”
The creature’s eyes narrowed softly.
Ancient sadness filled them.
“You carry her soul.”
Suddenly the water around Lyra began glowing faintly silver.
Symbols appeared across her skin beneath the torn white silk.
Ancient markings.
Forgotten language.
Power.
The creature slowly circled around her, careful not to touch her with its colossal body.
Even its movement shook the ocean floor.
Far above them, the cliffs of Valdoria trembled.
Panic spread through the crowd.
Priests dropped to their knees.
Soldiers backed away from the shoreline.
Some people began praying.
Because the sea itself was waking up.
Then the water exploded upward.
A colossal shadow rose from the abyss.
Screams erupted across the cliffs as the creature emerged from the black ocean for the first time in centuries.
Massive jagged fins tore through the storm clouds.
Black scales glistened like mountains beneath moonlight.
Its enormous body stretched farther than the eye could see.
People collapsed in terror.
“The Abyss King…” one old priest whispered.
The ancient god of the sea.
The destroyer from every forbidden legend.
And resting safely near its massive crown—
was Lyra.
Alive.
King Edric stumbled
