PART 2: The Dragon Knelt Before the Last Prince

The Imperial Arena erupted into chaos.

Fifty thousand voices that moments earlier screamed for Kael’s death now cried out in pure terror beneath the storm-dark sky.

Blue dragonfire still burned across melted stone walls.

Imperial soldiers stumbled backward in panic.

And at the center of it all—

the black dragon remained kneeling before the chained slave boy.

“My prince has returned.”

The words echoed across the Empire like a curse reborn.

Kael stood frozen beneath the smoke-filled air, staring into the glowing golden eyes of Bloodfang.

His chains rattled softly against his trembling wrists.

Prince?

The Emperor rose violently from his throne.

“No…”

Fear twisted across his face now.

Real fear.

Because every ruler of the Empire knew the ancient prophecy:

If the blood of the Dragon Kings ever returned… the dragons would remember.

The glowing mark beneath Kael’s slave collar burned brighter.

A silver dragon crest.

Ancient.
Royal.
Forbidden.

The Debt That Set Them Free

The same symbol the Empire spent centuries erasing from history.

The Emperor pointed toward the arena floor with shaking hands.

“KILL THEM BOTH!”

Thousands of soldiers surged forward instantly.

But Bloodfang moved first.

The dragon rose to its full terrifying height, chains snapping apart like threads beneath its power.

One thunderous roar shook the entire capital city.

Windows shattered.
Stone cracked.
People collapsed to their knees covering their ears.

Then the dragon spread its enormous wings.

And suddenly—

every dragon chained beneath the Imperial Arena began roaring back.

The sound turned the Empire cold.

Because dragons were answering him.

Deep beneath the arena floor, ancient iron gates trembled violently.

Kael looked around in shock.

“What’s happening?”

Bloodfang lowered his massive head beside him.

“The dragons know your blood.”

Another explosion shook the arena as fire erupted beneath the stone.

The crowd screamed and fled toward exits.

The Fall That Changed Everything

Nobles trampled each other in terror.

Above them all, the Emperor’s face had gone completely pale.

Because he finally understood the truth hidden nineteen years ago.

The Dragon Kings were never fully destroyed.

One child survived.

Kael.

The starving slave boy they chained for stealing bread.

Bloodfang’s voice rumbled like distant thunder.

“Your father died protecting you.”

Kael’s breath caught.

Images flashed through his mind suddenly.

A burning castle.
A woman crying.
Strong arms carrying him through smoke.

Memories buried since childhood.

The dragon looked toward the Emperor with hatred burning in its eyes.

“He murdered your bloodline.”

The Emperor screamed desperately:

“Loose the scorpion cannons!”

Massive weapons turned toward the arena from the walls above.

Soldiers loaded enormous steel bolts tipped with poison.

Kael stared upward as the weapons locked onto Bloodfang.

“We have to run!”

But Bloodfang growled softly.

“No more running, my prince.”

The first bolt fired.

Then another.

Then dozens more.

Bloodfang unleashed a wall of blue fire so bright the entire arena vanished beneath light.

Steel melted midair.

Stone exploded.

And suddenly the ancient arena floor collapsed completely.

From beneath the ruins—

more dragons emerged.

Massive creatures covered in scars and chains after centuries imprisoned below the Empire.

Red dragons.
Silver dragons.
Winged shadows rising through smoke.

The people watching realized something horrifying:

The Empire never killed the dragons.

It enslaved them.

And now—

they were free.

One enormous silver dragon landed beside Bloodfang and lowered its head toward Kael too.

Then another.

Then another.

Across the ruined arena floor, dragons bowed before the slave boy in chains.

The surviving crowd fell silent in terror.

Because no living person had ever witnessed dragons kneel together.

Bloodfang looked at Kael once more.

“You are the last Dragon King.”

Kael stared at the destruction around him, overwhelmed.

“I’m nobody.”

The dragon’s golden eyes softened.

“You were made nobody so tyrants could sleep peacefully.”

The Emperor backed away from his throne now.

Terrified.

Because the frightened slave he condemned to death moments earlier no longer stood alone.

He stood surrounded by the most powerful creatures in existence.

Then Kael slowly lifted his chained hands.

Bloodfang lowered his head again.

And with one pull—

the dragon shattered the slave chains forever.

The sound echoed across the silent Empire.

Not like freedom.

Like the beginning of war.
