PART 2: The Girl With The Swollen Foot at Route 66 Diner

The mother’s smile never reached her eyes.

“She’s fine,” she said softly, stirring her coffee again.

The little girl flinched as her swollen foot brushed the floor.

The biker’s jaw tightened.

Years on the road had taught him many things—especially how fear looked on a child’s face.

And this girl was terrified.

He crouched slightly beside the booth, lowering his voice.

“What happened to your foot, kid?”

The girl opened her mouth—

But her mother answered first.

“She fell.”

Too fast.

Too rehearsed.

The biker noticed the bruises hidden beneath the girl’s sleeve. Small fingerprints darkened her wrist.

Thunder rattled the diner windows.

Then the child whispered something so quietly it almost disappeared beneath the rain.

“She said not to tell.”

Silence swallowed the booth.

The biker slowly looked back at the mother.

Her smile was gone now.

The Debt That Set Them Free

Completely gone.
