PART 2 — “The Man From Black Ridge”
The Montana blizzard roared across the mountain estate while snow swirled violently beneath the dark night sky.
The wealthy family remained frozen beneath the glowing porch lights.
Nobody dared step forward.
Nobody dared speak.
And walking slowly through the open iron gate—
the young woman stayed close beside the massive mountain man while freezing wind whipped around them.
Her old suitcase dragged through the deep snow behind her.
The brother finally found his voice again.
“Wait!”
The stranger stopped instantly.
Heavy boots sinking into the snow-covered driveway.
Slowly—
he turned his head toward the mansion.
The porch lights reflected across his snow-covered beard while cold mountain wind moved through his long dark hair.
For one brief moment—
pure fear crossed the brother’s face.
“You can’t just take her.”
The mountain man stared silently at him.
Then quietly—
“She already left.”
The young woman lowered her tear-filled eyes.
Because deep down—
she knew it was true.
The family had thrown her away long before tonight.
Thunder rolled through the mountains again.
The older mother standing beneath the porch finally stepped forward nervously.
“Who are you?”
The stranger said nothing at first.
Snow drifted heavily between them while distant wolves howled somewhere deep within the dark Montana wilderness.
Then one of the older servants near the doorway suddenly gasped softly.
Recognition.
Fear.
“…Black Ridge.”
The atmosphere changed instantly.
Several family members exchanged horrified looks.
The brother’s confidence vanished completely.
Because everyone in the mountains knew the stories.
The man from Black Ridge.
The recluse who lived alone beyond the northern cliffs where nobody dared travel during winter.
Some called him a hunter.
Others whispered darker things.
But every story ended the same way—
men who threatened people under his protection disappeared.
The brother swallowed hard.
“You… you know her?”
The mountain man looked briefly toward the trembling young woman beside him.
Snowflakes melted against her pale face beneath the storm.
Then quietly—
“She saved my life once.”
The family stared in confusion.
The young woman blinked in shock.
“What…?”
For the first time—
a small flicker of emotion crossed the stranger’s hardened face.
“Three winters ago.”
Wind howled violently through the pine trees around the estate.
“I collapsed near the lower pass during a storm.”
The young woman’s eyes slowly widened.
Memory returning.
A wounded stranger.
Frozen hands.
A hidden cabin.
“You gave me shelter.”
Silence swallowed the snowy estate.
The mountain man looked toward the wealthy family one final time.
“You threw away the only decent soul standing under this roof.”
Nobody answered.
Couldn’t answer.
Then suddenly—
headlights appeared far down the mountain road.
FAST.
Multiple vehicles climbing toward the estate through the storm.
The mountain man’s expression darkened instantly.
The brother frowned nervously.
“What now?”
The stranger slowly stepped in front of the young woman protectively.
“That’s why I came tonight.”
The vehicles drew closer beneath the blizzard.
Black SUVs.
Too many.
And standing there beneath the roaring Montana storm—
the terrified family finally realized something horrifying.
The mountain man had not arrived by accident.
He came to get her out…
before someone else arrived looking for her first.
