PART 2: The Heir of the Dragon Vault
The throne room fell completely silent.
Golden light poured from the ancient vault, stretching across the cold stone floor while nobles shielded their eyes in disbelief.
Nobody moved.
Nobody even breathed.
Because the impossible had just happened.
For five hundred years, the Dragon Vault had never opened.
Kings failed.
Warriors failed.
Entire armies failed.
Yet somehow…
a dirty barefoot boy had unlocked it with a single touch.
The glowing runes across the iron doors slowly faded into darkness.
The two giant stone dragons guarding the vault suddenly rumbled beneath the torchlight.
Dust drifted from their ancient bodies.
And then—
their glowing eyes opened.
Panic exploded through the royal court.
“The dragons!”
“Protect the King!”
Royal guards raised spears immediately while nobles scrambled backward across the marble floor.
But the dragons did not attack.
Instead, both enormous stone creatures slowly lowered their heads toward the boy.
Like servants greeting their master.
The King stumbled backward in horror.
“No…” he whispered.
“That bloodline ended centuries ago.”
The boy ignored him completely.
His eyes remained fixed on the floating golden crown deep inside the vault.
Something about it felt familiar.
Like a forgotten memory buried inside his mind.
An elderly royal historian suddenly dropped to his knees trembling.
“The prophecy…” he whispered.
The King turned furiously.
“Silence!”
But the old historian kept staring at the child in terror.
“The vault only opens for the true heir of Valedorn.”
The room erupted into panicked whispers.
The lost royal bloodline.
The ancient rulers said to command dragons themselves.
Impossible.
Destroyed long ago during the Black War.
The King’s face hardened instantly.
“Seize the boy.”
Guards hesitated.
Nobody wanted to move closer to the dragons.
“NOW!” the King roared.
Three royal guards cautiously stepped forward with swords drawn.
The boy finally turned around slowly.
For the first time, fear flickered in his eyes.
Not for himself.
For them.
“Please…” he whispered quietly.
“Don’t.”
But it was already too late.
One guard grabbed the boy’s shoulder—
And instantly screamed.
A violent burst of golden energy exploded through the throne room.
The guard was launched backward across the stone floor like he had been struck by lightning.
The floating crown inside the vault began glowing brighter and brighter.
Then—
one of the giant stone dragons moved.
Not slightly.
Not symbolically.
It stepped forward.
The entire throne room shook violently beneath its weight.
Women screamed.
Knights stumbled backward in terror.
Because the dragons were not statues anymore.
They were alive.
The King’s face turned pale.
“How is this possible…?”
The boy stared at the moving dragon in shock.
The massive creature slowly lowered its enormous head beside him protectively.
Then a deep ancient voice echoed through the throne room itself.
Not from the dragon.
From the vault.
“The last heir has returned.”
Silence consumed the kingdom’s court.
The floating crown drifted slowly out from the treasure chamber and stopped directly before the boy.
Waiting.
The King trembled with fear and rage.
Because if the crown accepted the child…
then everything the royal family built for centuries was a lie.
And the true ruler of the kingdom had just come back.
