PART 2: The Beast That Guarded Her

The snowstorm screamed through the frozen forest.

Hunters tightened their grips on their rifles while terrified horses kicked wildly against the icy ground.

But nobody fired.

Nobody dared.

Because the massive black wolf standing before the little girl didn’t look like a normal animal anymore.

It looked ancient.

Its glowing eyes burned through the blizzard while steam rose from its body into the freezing air.

The little girl clung tightly to the creature’s thick fur.

“He saved me!” she cried again. “Please don’t hurt him!”

One hunter slowly lowered his rifle.

Another whispered nervously:

“That thing’s twice the size of any wolf I’ve ever seen…”

The oldest hunter stepped forward carefully, snow crunching beneath his boots.

“Sweetheart,” he called gently, “move away from the animal.”

The little girl shook her head violently.

“No!”

The wolf immediately growled again.

Low.

Violent.

Protective.

The Debt That Set Them Free

The horses panicked harder.

One nearly threw its rider into the snow.

Then suddenly—

The wolf turned its head sharply toward the dark forest behind them.

Its ears lifted instantly.

Listening.

The growling stopped.

Now it seemed alert.

Worried.

The hunters exchanged confused looks.

“What is it hearing?”

The little girl’s face suddenly changed.

Fear.

“He’s coming back,” she whispered.

The old hunter frowned.

“Who’s coming back?”

Before she could answer—

A distant roar echoed through the mountains.

Not human.

Not animal.

The Fall That Changed Everything

Something else.

Something enormous.

The entire forest fell silent afterward.

Even the wind seemed to stop for one terrible second.

Then trees began shaking deep in the darkness.

Heavy footsteps.

Getting closer.

The hunters raised their rifles again instinctively.

One man whispered:

“What the hell is that…?”

The black wolf slowly stepped in front of the little girl once more.

Its glowing eyes narrowed toward the forest.

Ready to fight.

Then—

A gigantic shadow moved between the snow-covered trees.

Far too large to be a bear.

The horses screamed in terror.

One hunter backed away immediately.

“No… no, that’s impossible.”

The little girl grabbed the wolf tighter.

Tears filled her eyes.

“That’s the monster that chased me.”

Branches snapped violently.

And from the blizzard beyond the trees…

something massive began emerging into the storm.
