PART 2: The Letter That Shook the Crown

The grand banquet hall remained frozen in absolute silence.

Golden chandeliers flickered softly above trembling nobles who no longer knew whether to breathe or speak.

The barefoot boy stood in the center of the polished marble floor, rainwater and dust staining the royal carpet beneath him.

In front of him, the young princess held the tiny silver hairpin with shaking fingers.

Her eyes refused to leave it.

Because she knew it.

She remembered it.

The king’s voice finally broke the silence.

“Move him away from her.”

But no guard moved.

Not after seeing the princess’s expression.

Not after seeing fear in the royal family’s eyes.

The boy didn’t step back.

He only held out the folded letter again.

“My mother said… I must give this to the royal family,” he repeated quietly.

The princess slowly reached for it.

Her hands trembled as she unfolded the paper.

The moment her eyes touched the handwriting—

her breath stopped completely.

A soft gasp escaped her lips.

The Debt That Set Them Free

“No…”

The king stepped forward immediately.

“What is it?”

The princess couldn’t speak at first.

Her fingers tightened around the letter as if it might disappear.

“This handwriting…” she whispered. “It’s Lily’s.”

A shocked murmur rippled through the hall.

The name itself carried weight.

Princess Lily— the royal bloodline’s lost daughter, declared dead five years ago after vanishing during the border war.

The king’s face went pale.

“That’s impossible,” he said sharply. “Lily died in the northern attack. We buried her memory with honor.”

The princess shook her head, tears forming in her eyes.

“She wrote this after she disappeared.”

The hall erupted in stunned whispers.

The boy looked up quietly.

“My mother said she ran away… not died.”

The king froze.

For the first time in years, his voice dropped.

“…Your mother is Lily?”

The boy hesitated.

The Fall That Changed Everything

Then nodded.

A silence so deep followed that even the music outside the hall seemed to vanish.

The princess clutched the hairpin tightly.

“She was alive all this time…” she whispered.

But then her eyes moved back to the letter.

And everything changed.

Her expression shattered.

Because the letter didn’t just reveal survival.

It revealed a betrayal inside the royal family itself.

The king noticed her fear instantly.

“What does it say?” he demanded.

The princess swallowed hard.

Then slowly read aloud:

“If you are reading this… then I did not return in time.”

Her voice shook.

“And the throne is no longer safe from within.”

Gasps echoed across the hall.

The king stepped back slightly.

“That’s nonsense,” he said sharply. “Who wrote that?”

The princess looked up at him, eyes filled with disbelief and fear.

“…You did.”

The entire hall went silent again.

The king’s face drained of color.

The boy quietly stepped forward.

“My mother told me,” he said softly, “that the truth about the royal family was hidden in this letter… and only the hairpin could open what was buried.”

He looked at the princess.

“Something is coming back.”

At that exact moment—

a loud horn echoed outside the palace gates.

Not a royal signal.

Not an announcement.

A warning.

The guards at the entrance suddenly rushed inside, panic on their faces.

“Your Majesty!” one shouted. “The northern gates—”

He stopped.

Swallowed hard.

Then finished in a whisper:

“…someone has returned with Princess Lily’s royal seal.”
