The bedroom door slowly swung open.<\/p>\n

Warm afternoon sunlight spilled across the familiar room.<\/p>\n

Everything inside had been carefully arranged.<\/p>\n

Family photographs rested on the dresser.<\/p>\n

An old rocking chair stood beside the window.<\/p>\n

A knitted blanket lay folded neatly at the foot of the bed.<\/p>\n

The elderly woman stepped inside.<\/p>\n

Her trembling fingers brushed across the quilt she had sewn years earlier.<\/p>\n

Tears filled her eyes.<\/p>\n

“I thought I’d never see this room again.”<\/p>\n

Her son swallowed hard.<\/p>\n

He gently placed the small blanket she had been carrying back onto the bed.<\/p>\n

“You should never have had to leave it.”<\/p>\n

His hands began to shake.<\/p>\n

The final page stopped him completely.<\/p>\n

“I hope my son never blames himself.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

A tear landed on the paper.<\/p>\n

“Mom…”<\/p>\n

“Why didn’t you call me?”<\/p>\n

He looked at her.<\/p>\n

“This happened for months.”<\/p>\n

She wiped away tears.<\/p>\n

“I was stressed.”<\/p>\n

“You humiliated my mother because you were stressed?”<\/p>\n

She had no answer.<\/p>\n

the family housekeeper quietly approached.<\/p>\n

“Sir…”<\/p>\n

“I think you should see something.”<\/p>\n

She handed him a small envelope.<\/p>\n

Inside were several printed photographs.<\/p>\n

“My decision hasn’t changed.”<\/p>\n

“You need to leave.”<\/p>\n

She began crying.<\/p>\n

“Please don’t end our marriage.”<\/p>\n

He answered calmly.<\/p>\n

“Our marriage ended the day you decided my mother no longer deserved her own room.”<\/p>\n

Within an hour…<\/p>\n

her luggage stood beside the mansion’s front entrance.<\/p>\n

She looked back one last time.<\/p>\n

The elderly woman simply nodded politely.<\/p>\n

There was no anger in her face.<\/p>\n

Only sadness.<\/p>\n

The front door closed.<\/p>\n
