the front door opened.<\/p>\n

A man in a navy business suit hurried inside.<\/p>\n

Behind him came two architects.<\/p>\n

Then three construction managers.<\/p>\n

The barista frowned.<\/p>\n

Until his eyes found the elderly woman.<\/p>\n

he walked over.<\/p>\n

Then respectfully bowed his head.<\/p>\n

“Good morning, Mrs. Bennett.”<\/p>\n

The blonde woman blinked in surprise.<\/p>\n

“You know her?”<\/p>\n

The man smiled.<\/p>\n

“I should.”<\/p>\n

“She owns this caf\u00e9.”<\/p>\n

A wave of whispers spread through the room.<\/p>\n

The elderly woman chuckled.<\/p>\n

“Oh dear…”<\/p>\n

“I always forget people make such a fuss.”<\/p>\n

The barista stood frozen.<\/p>\n

“You… own this place?”<\/p>\n

She nodded gently.<\/p>\n

“For thirty-eight years.”<\/p>\n

“I still like carrying my own breakfast.”<\/p>\n

The employees exchanged amazed looks.<\/p>\n

One young waitress whispered,<\/p>\n

“She talks to us like family.”<\/p>\n

Mrs. Bennett smiled.<\/p>\n

“Because you are.”<\/p>\n

The manager handed her a folder.<\/p>\n

“The renovation plans are ready.”<\/p>\n

“And the little library.”<\/p>\n

“And those sunny window seats.”<\/p>\n

She smiled at the customers.<\/p>\n

“This caf\u00e9 wasn’t built to make the most money.”<\/p>\n

“It was built to make people feel welcome.”<\/p>\n

The room grew quiet.<\/p>\n

Even the architects smiled.<\/p>\n

The blonde woman reached across the table.<\/p>\n

“You created something special.”<\/p>\n

Mrs. Bennett looked around the room with pride.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t.”<\/p>\n

“We did.”<\/p>\n
