The little girl smiled through her tears.<\/p>\n

Still holding the ninety-three dollars.<\/p>\n

The biker stood and gently took her hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet’s go find your mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

The girl nodded.<\/p>\n

But before they could leave\u2014<\/p>\n

she reached into her pocket.<\/p>\n

\u201cI almost forgot.\u201d<\/p>\n

She pulled out a tiny silver locket.<\/p>\n

Its chain was old.<\/p>\n

Its surface scratched with age.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom told me…\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo give this to the man who promised to bring her home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker smiled.<\/p>\n

Then took the locket.<\/p>\n

The moment he opened it\u2014<\/p>\n

his entire body froze.<\/p>\n

Inside was a faded photograph.<\/p>\n

A younger woman.<\/p>\n

Standing beside him.<\/p>\n

Both of them laughing.<\/p>\n

His hands began to shake.<\/p>\n

His voice barely escaped.<\/p>\n

The little girl looked up.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know my mommy?\u201d<\/p>\n

Tears filled the biker’s eyes.<\/p>\n

The little girl nodded sadly.<\/p>\n

\u201cMom said if I ever met the man in that picture…\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe’d never stop looking for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker closed the locket.<\/p>\n

Holding it tightly against his heart.<\/p>\n

A tear rolled down his weathered cheek.<\/p>\n

Then he knelt beside the little girl.<\/p>\n

His voice filled with quiet determination.<\/p>\n

The little girl slipped her tiny hand into his.<\/p>\n

they walked toward the motorcycle.<\/p>\n

Not as strangers.<\/p>\n
