The waitress wiped away her tears.<\/p>\n

Her hands still shaking.<\/p>\n

The bearded man gently pulled out a chair.<\/p>\n

\u201cSit down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou’re safe now.\u201d<\/p>\n

She nodded.<\/p>\n

Trying to catch her breath.<\/p>\n

As she sat, something slipped from her apron pocket.<\/p>\n

A small photograph.<\/p>\n

It landed beside his boot.<\/p>\n

The man bent down and picked it up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you dropped this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The waitress looked at the picture.<\/p>\n

Then froze.<\/p>\n

\u201cWait…\u201d<\/p>\n

But it was too late.<\/p>\n

The bearded man’s eyes locked onto the image.<\/p>\n

A little girl.<\/p>\n

Standing beside a younger woman.<\/p>\n

And behind them\u2014<\/p>\n

a tall bearded biker.<\/p>\n

His breath caught.<\/p>\n

His hands began to tremble.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere did you get this?\u201d<\/p>\n

The waitress stared at him in confusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother kept it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe told me it was the only picture she had of the man who once saved her life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker looked closer.<\/p>\n

He recognized the little roadside diner.<\/p>\n

The old motorcycle.<\/p>\n

Even the leather vest he had worn twenty years earlier.<\/p>\n

His voice became unsteady.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour mother’s name…\u201d<\/p>\n

The waitress swallowed.<\/p>\n

\u201cLinda.\u201d<\/p>\n

A tear rolled down the biker’s cheek.<\/p>\n

He smiled sadly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember Linda.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was just a scared little girl when I met her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The waitress’s eyes widened.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe talked about you my whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe called you…\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHer guardian angel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker laughed softly through his tears.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just in the right place.\u201d<\/p>\n

The waitress stepped forward.<\/p>\n

And wrapped her arms around him.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor twenty years…\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve wanted to thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker gently returned the hug.<\/p>\n

Then smiled.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don’t have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
