The little girl hugged the grocery bags tightly.<\/p>\n

Tears still in her eyes.<\/p>\n

The biker was gone.<\/p>\n

Nothing but the distant sound of his motorcycle remained.<\/p>\n

Then\u2014<\/p>\n

the cashier noticed something.<\/p>\n

A folded piece of paper tucked between two grocery bags.<\/p>\n

“Sweetheart, wait.”<\/p>\n

The little girl turned around.<\/p>\n

Confused.<\/p>\n

The cashier handed her the note.<\/p>\n

Carefully, she unfolded it.<\/p>\n

Her eyes scanned the words.<\/p>\n

And suddenly froze.<\/p>\n

For your mom.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beneath it was a gift card.<\/p>\n

Enough for groceries.<\/p>\n

Enough for many dinners.<\/p>\n

The little girl’s hands began to shake.<\/p>\n

“Why would he do this?”<\/p>\n

The cashier smiled softly.<\/p>\n

“I think he knew what it feels like.”<\/p>\n

The girl looked down again.<\/p>\n

Then noticed something written on the back of the note.<\/p>\n

Just one sentence.<\/p>\n

Tell your mom she’s stronger than she thinks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A tear rolled down her cheek.<\/p>\n

Because those were the exact words her father used to say.<\/p>\n

Before he passed away.<\/p>\n

The little girl stared at the handwriting.<\/p>\n

Something about it felt familiar.<\/p>\n

Then\u2014<\/p>\n

she reached into her pocket.<\/p>\n

Pulling out an old photograph she always carried.<\/p>\n

A picture of her mom and dad.<\/p>\n

The cashier glanced at it.<\/p>\n

And gasped.<\/p>\n

On her father’s wrist was a leather bracelet.<\/p>\n

The same bracelet the biker had been wearing.<\/p>\n

The little girl’s eyes widened.<\/p>\n

Her heart racing.<\/p>\n

She turned toward the road.<\/p>\n

But the motorcycle was long gone.<\/p>\n

Only the sunset remained.<\/p>\n

And for the first time\u2014<\/p>\n

she realized the stranger who bought dinner<\/p>\n

might not have been a stranger at all.<\/p>\n

He might have been someone<\/p>\n
