The little girl refused to let go.<\/p>\n
Her tiny arms wrapped around Mr. Gunter’s waist as she smiled through happy tears.<\/p>\n
\u201cCan we ride it together?\u201d she asked excitedly.<\/p>\n
Mr. Gunter chuckled softly.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot until you learn the rules of the road, little lady.\u201d<\/p>\n
The girl giggled.<\/p>\n
Behind them, her mother wiped tears from her eyes.<\/p>\n

The old biker nodded.<\/p>\n

But the mother knew better.<\/p>\n
She could see the hand-painted flames.<\/p>\n
The polished chrome.<\/p>\n
The care hidden in every detail.<\/p>\n
This wasn’t spare parts.<\/p>\n
It was hundreds of hours.<\/p>\n
Love disguised as work.<\/p>\n
Then the little girl pointed at the fuel tank.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr. Gunter!\u201d<\/p>\n
Everyone looked.<\/p>\n
Painted carefully in tiny white letters were two words:<\/p>\n
Lily’s Harley<\/strong><\/p>\n The little girl gasped.<\/p>\n \u201cMy name!\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Gunter smiled shyly beneath his gray beard.<\/p>\n \u201cThought it ought to belong to its rider.\u201d<\/p>\n That was too much for her mother.<\/p>\n She broke down crying again.<\/p>\n And the little girl threw her arms around the old biker’s neck once more.<\/p>\n \u201cYou’re the best grandpa ever!\u201d<\/p>\n The words caught him completely off guard.<\/p>\n Mr. Gunter froze.<\/p>\n His smile trembled.<\/p>\n Slowly, tears filled his tired eyes.<\/p>\n Because after losing his own family years before, he never expected to hear those words again.<\/p>\n He hugged the little girl gently.<\/p>\n And as the sun disappeared behind the quiet neighborhood, the tiny yellow Harley gleamed beneath the evening sky.<\/p>\n But the greatest gift Mr. Gunter had built that summer\u2014<\/p>\n wasn’t the motorcycle.<\/p>\n It was the family he never thought he’d have again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The little girl refused to let go.
