The biker didn\u2019t sit like someone who expected to stay long.<\/p>\n

At first.<\/p>\n

He placed himself carefully in the booth, as if he was testing whether he still belonged in places like this.<\/p>\n

The vinyl seat creaked softly under his weight.<\/p>\n

The little girl immediately slid a menu toward him like it had been planned all along.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to get the double burger,\u201d she said seriously. \u201cIt\u2019s the best one.\u201d<\/p>\n

He raised an eyebrow. \u201cThat so?\u201d<\/p>\n

She nodded confidently.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brother tried to finish it once. He couldn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the other side of the booth, her father gave a small amused shake of his head but didn\u2019t interrupt.<\/p>\n

The biker noticed that too.<\/p>\n

A family that didn\u2019t mind noise.<\/p>\n

That didn\u2019t mind strangers.<\/p>\n

He looked down at the menu but didn\u2019t really read it.<\/p>\n

Instead, his eyes drifted to the window.<\/p>\n

Outside, the highway kept moving.<\/p>\n

People kept passing.<\/p>\n

Nobody stopped.<\/p>\n

Except here.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour dad always say stuff like that?\u201d the biker asked casually, glancing at her.<\/p>\n

The girl shrugged. \u201cHe says a lot of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her father chuckled lightly. \u201cOnly when she listens.\u201d<\/p>\n

That got a small laugh from the biker.<\/p>\n

Low.<\/p>\n

Quiet.<\/p>\n

The kind that didn\u2019t come out often enough.<\/p>\n

A waitress came over, pen ready.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat can I get you?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

The biker hesitated.<\/p>\n

Like he was about to order something simple.<\/p>\n

Then the little girl leaned forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s thinking,\u201d she whispered loudly, like it was a secret mission.<\/p>\n

The biker smirked. \u201cI heard that.\u201d<\/p>\n

She grinned.<\/p>\n

For a moment, he looked at her properly.<\/p>\n

Not just a kid at a diner booth.<\/p>\n

But someone who had decided, without asking the world\u2019s permission, that he wasn\u2019t going to be alone.<\/p>\n

He cleared his throat.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlright,\u201d he said to the waitress. \u201cDouble burger. Fries. Coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he added, after a pause:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd\u2026 whatever she\u2019s having.\u201d<\/p>\n

The girl\u2019s eyes lit up instantly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m having chocolate milk!\u201d she announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen that too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The waitress smiled and walked away.<\/p>\n

For a few seconds, there was only the sound of distant plates and highway wind outside the glass.<\/p>\n

Then the biker spoke again, quieter this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know,\u201d he said, looking at the girl, \u201cmost folks don\u2019t just call strangers over.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shrugged like it wasn\u2019t a big deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou looked like you forgot something.\u201d<\/p>\n

He tilted his head slightly. \u201cOh yeah?\u201d<\/p>\n

She nodded.<\/p>\n

\u201cA place to sit.\u201d<\/p>\n

That landed differently.<\/p>\n

He looked down at the empty edge of the booth.<\/p>\n

Then at her.<\/p>\n

Then at the family around her.<\/p>\n

And for the first time in a long while, he didn\u2019t feel like a man passing through towns.<\/p>\n

He felt like someone who had been expected somewhere.<\/p>\n

The biker leaned back slightly, exhaling.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour dad teach you that too?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

She shook her head.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

A pause.<\/p>\n

Then she added softly:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just didn\u2019t want you to leave without eating.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biker didn\u2019t answer immediately.<\/p>\n

He just looked at her.<\/p>\n

And somewhere behind the rough leather, the long roads, and the silence he carried\u2014<\/p>\n

something loosened.<\/p>\n

Not broken.<\/p>\n

Just\u2026 softer.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d he said finally, voice low. \u201cI\u2019m glad I didn\u2019t leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside, trucks kept rushing past.<\/p>\n

But inside that booth\u2014<\/p>\n

for the first time in a long ride,<\/p>\n
