The woman nodded, wiping her tears.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to count coins in my hand just hoping it was enough,\u201d she said softly. \u201cYou didn\u2019t just give me food. You gave me dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The vendor looked down at his weathered hands\u2014the same hands that had flipped thousands of hot dogs, forgotten by most of the city.<\/p>\n

Her voice softened.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew carts. Ten locations. Full staff. Everything you need.\u201d<\/p>\n

His eyes widened. \u201cNo, I can\u2019t accept\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou already did,\u201d she interrupted gently.<\/p>\n

A quiet silence fell between them as city traffic continued rushing past like nothing had changed.<\/p>\n

But something had.<\/p>\n

The man looked at her carefully now, seeing not the little girl anymore\u2014but the life that had grown from her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou really remembered all this time?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

She smiled through tears.<\/p>\n

Then she reached into her purse and placed something small on the counter.<\/p>\n
