Like the moment itself didn\u2019t want to end.<\/p>\n

The biker remained frozen in his seat, staring at the papers as if they might disappear if he blinked too hard.<\/p>\n

His hand was still wrapped around hers.<\/p>\n

But now it felt different.<\/p>\n

Not protective in a temporary way.<\/p>\n

Permanent.<\/p>\n

The little girl\u2014still clinging to him\u2014looked up at his face, trying to understand why he wasn\u2019t speaking.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaddy?\u201d she whispered again, softer this time, almost uncertain.<\/p>\n

That word broke something open in him.<\/p>\n

He exhaled sharply, a breath that carried years of waiting, losing, and surviving things he never talked about.<\/p>\n

Then he pulled her closer.<\/p>\n

Not carefully.<\/p>\n

Not hesitantly.<\/p>\n

Like someone afraid the world might take her back if he didn\u2019t hold on tightly enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here,\u201d he said, voice rough. \u201cI\u2019m right here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Across the courtroom, the lawyer shuffled papers, pretending to stay professional. A clerk wiped at her eye quickly and looked away. Even the judge took a moment longer than necessary to set the stamp aside.<\/p>\n

But none of it mattered to them.<\/p>\n

Not anymore.<\/p>\n

The biker slowly stood, lifting the girl into his arms as if it was the most natural thing in the world.<\/p>\n

She immediately wrapped her arms around his neck, her pink dress crinkling against his leather vest.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not leaving me now, right?\u201d she asked suddenly, anxiety slipping back in for a second.<\/p>\n

His jaw tightened.<\/p>\n

He shook his head once.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d he said firmly. \u201cNot now. Not ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her grip tightened instantly, as if sealing the promise physically.<\/p>\n

He turned slightly toward the judge, still holding her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs it done?\u201d he asked, like he needed to hear it one more time.<\/p>\n

The judge nodded gently. \u201cIt\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n

A long silence followed.<\/p>\n

Not heavy this time.<\/p>\n

Just full.<\/p>\n

The kind of silence that doesn\u2019t feel empty anymore, because something important has finally taken its place.<\/p>\n

The biker looked down at the papers one last time.<\/p>\n

Then back at her.<\/p>\n

His voice dropped softer than before.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know what that means now?\u201d<\/p>\n

She tilted her head. \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

A faint, tired smile finally broke through his tough expression.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means you don\u2019t have to ask that question anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

She frowned slightly. \u201cWhich question?\u201d<\/p>\n

He brushed a thumb gently across her cheek.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one about whether you belong somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

For a second, she didn\u2019t move.<\/p>\n

Then her face softened.<\/p>\n

And she rested her forehead against his shoulder.<\/p>\n

Outside the courtroom windows, sunlight poured in steadily\u2014warm, patient, unwavering.<\/p>\n

Inside, a man who once thought he was too broken to be needed walked out holding a child who had already decided he was home.<\/p>\n

And for the first time in both of their lives\u2014<\/p>\n
