Chrome trim reflected the fading evening sky.<\/p>\n

Customers filled the outdoor tables.<\/p>\n

Conversations drifted through the warm air.<\/p>\n

Beside the diner\u2014<\/p>\n

a large biker sat alone near his motorcycle.<\/p>\n

Long gray beard.<\/p>\n

Weathered face.<\/p>\n

Black leather vest.<\/p>\n

Tattooed arms resting across his lap.<\/p>\n

His expression distant.<\/p>\n

Lost in thought.<\/p>\n

A Nervous Little Visitor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then\u2014<\/p>\n

a little girl in a pink floral dress slowly approached.<\/p>\n

Her small steps hesitant.<\/p>\n

Nervous.<\/p>\n

Uncertain.<\/p>\n

Several diners noticed immediately.<\/p>\n

Forks paused halfway to plates.<\/p>\n

Conversations faded.<\/p>\n

Eyes followed her across the pavement.<\/p>\n

The biker looked down at her.<\/p>\n

Curious.<\/p>\n

Confused.<\/p>\n

The little girl stopped directly in front of him.<\/p>\n

The Old Green Locket<\/strong><\/p>\n

The little girl carefully lifted his large hand.<\/p>\n

And gently placed the locket into it.<\/p>\n

The evening air seemed to stand still.<\/p>\n

The biker stared down at the object.<\/p>\n

His fingers trembling.<\/p>\n

Recognition hit instantly.<\/p>\n

Shock spread across his face.<\/p>\n

His breathing became uneven.<\/p>\n

The noise of the diner faded away.<\/p>\n

The customers watched silently.<\/p>\n

Unable to look away.<\/p>\n

A Memory From Long Ago<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biker turned the locket over in his hand.<\/p>\n

Studying every scratch.<\/p>\n

Every mark.<\/p>\n

Every memory attached to it.<\/p>\n

His eyes began to glisten.<\/p>\n

Then fill with tears.<\/p>\n

The little girl looked up at him quietly.<\/p>\n

Waiting.<\/p>\n

Patiently.<\/p>\n

As though she already knew what it meant.<\/p>\n

The biker swallowed hard.<\/p>\n

His voice barely above a whisper.<\/p>\n

\u201cI gave that to your mother twenty years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

The words trembled with emotion.<\/p>\n

Tears rolled down his cheeks.<\/p>\n

Several customers exchanged stunned glances.<\/p>\n

Nobody spoke.<\/p>\n

Nobody wanted to interrupt the moment.<\/p>\n

A Piece of the Past Returns<\/strong><\/p>\n

The little girl smiled softly.<\/p>\n

The biker lowered his head.<\/p>\n

Holding the locket carefully in both hands.<\/p>\n

Like something priceless.<\/p>\n

Like something he thought he would never see again.<\/p>\n

The golden sunset stretched across the diner parking lot.<\/p>\n

Bathing everything in warm light.<\/p>\n
