The evening crowd spoke quietly over coffee and meals.<\/p>\n

Near the marble counter\u2014<\/p>\n

a young boy in a red hoodie stood on tiptoe.<\/p>\n

His small hands trembled.<\/p>\n

Carefully\u2014<\/p>\n

he placed a stack of crumpled dollar bills onto the counter.<\/p>\n

Every dollar he owned.<\/p>\n

Across from him sat an older biker.<\/p>\n

Long gray beard.<\/p>\n

Weathered face.<\/p>\n

Tattooed arms.<\/p>\n

A black leather vest stretched across his broad shoulders.<\/p>\n

A silver cross necklace rested against his chest.<\/p>\n

Behind the boy\u2014<\/p>\n

his worried mother stood silently.<\/p>\n

Nervously clasping her hands.<\/p>\n

A Child’s Plea<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biker glanced down at the money.<\/p>\n

Then slowly raised his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease help my mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

The diner grew quieter.<\/p>\n

The biker leaned forward.<\/p>\n

His tattooed forearms resting on the counter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat’s all you got?\u201d<\/p>\n

The boy nodded.<\/p>\n

Fear and determination filled his eyes.<\/p>\n

nobody spoke.<\/p>\n

The sincerity in the child’s voice seemed to stop time itself.<\/p>\n

Several customers lowered their coffee cups.<\/p>\n

Even the waitress paused beside the kitchen doors.<\/p>\n

The Letter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then the biker unfolded an old yellowed letter.<\/p>\n

The paper was worn.<\/p>\n

Creased from years of being carried.<\/p>\n

The boy and his mother watched anxiously.<\/p>\n

The boy stepped closer to his mother.<\/p>\n

The flashing lights outside continued to reflect across the diner windows.<\/p>\n

The bikers stood together.<\/p>\n

United.<\/p>\n

Ready.<\/p>\n

Watching the entrance.<\/p>\n

Waiting.<\/p>\n

everyone in the diner understood the same thing.<\/p>\n
