His coffee mug stopped halfway to his lips.<\/p>\n

Around the table, the laughter vanished.<\/p>\n

\u201cSarah\u2026 Miller?\u201d he whispered.<\/p>\n

The child nodded happily.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said if I ever saw that bird tattoo, I should say hello.\u201d<\/p>\n

Color drained from the man’s face.<\/p>\n

Twenty years.<\/p>\n

Twenty years since he’d heard that name.<\/p>\n

One of the younger bikers frowned.<\/p>\n

But Marcus \u201cGrim\u201d Callahan wasn’t listening.<\/p>\n

His eyes stayed locked on the little girl.<\/p>\n

His breathing caught.<\/p>\n

For a moment, nobody moved.<\/p>\n

Nobody breathed.<\/p>\n

Trembling hands reached beneath his vest and pulled out the matching piece.<\/p>\n

Click.<\/p>\n

The two halves fit together perfectly.<\/p>\n

The entire diner fell silent.<\/p>\n

Tears filled the old biker’s eyes.<\/p>\n

The little girl smiled.<\/p>\n

\u201cMommy says broken things can find each other again.\u201d<\/p>\n

But then her smile faded.<\/p>\n

Tears gathered in her eyes.<\/p>\n

Marcus knelt in front of her immediately.<\/p>\n
