Stay awake, brother!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The biker weakly lifted one trembling hand toward the radio clipped beside him.<\/p>\n<p>But he could barely move.<\/p>\n<p>The little girl quickly held it closer to his face.<\/p>\n<p>The biker\u2019s cracked voice escaped slowly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026Truck\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Static buzzed loudly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat truck?!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His breathing became uneven.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack pickups\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s frightened eyes immediately turned toward the nearby driveway.<\/p>\n<p>The two black pickup trucks sitting silently across the street.<\/p>\n<p>For one horrible moment\u2014<\/p>\n<p>everything felt wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Too quiet.<\/p>\n<p>Too still.<\/p>\n<p>Then suddenly\u2014<\/p>\n<p>one pickup truck door slowly opened.<\/p>\n<p>The little girl froze instantly.<\/p>\n<p>A tall man wearing dark sunglasses stepped out slowly into the sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>Another door opened behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Then another.<\/p>\n<p>The biker\u2019s eyes widened weakly from the pavement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The little girl backed away toward him in terror.<\/p>\n<p>The men started walking slowly down the driveway toward the road.<\/p>\n<p>Calm.<br \/>\nCold.<br \/>\nDeliberate.<\/p>\n<p>The radio exploded with shouting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cREAPER WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING?!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The biker forced himself painfully upward onto one elbow despite the blood soaking through his shirt.<\/p>\n<p>Then he pulled the terrified little girl protectively behind him.<\/p>\n<p>The approaching men continued walking closer beneath the warm suburban sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>And on the quiet American street\u2014<\/p>\n<p>the nightmare was only beginning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bright afternoon sunlight stretched across the quiet suburban road while the little girl continued crying beside the motionless biker.
