data-end=\"313\">The massive biker leaned closer over Eli\u2019s table, jaw tightening beneath the neon beer lights.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"315\" data-end=\"363\">Biker (coldly): \u201cYou got a death wish, old man?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"365\" data-end=\"403\">Eli calmly set his whiskey glass down.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"405\" data-end=\"461\">The sharp <em data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"422\">clink<\/em> somehow sounded louder than the music.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"507\">Then he looked directly at the biker\u2019s vest.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"579\">\u201cBlack Vultures Motorcycle Club,\u201d Eli said quietly. \u201cLubbock chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"581\" data-end=\"621\">The biker\u2019s expression shifted slightly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"665\">Eli continued before he could speak again.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"764\">\u201cYou lost a brother outside Amarillo three years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1352\">The biker went pale.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1396\">A chair scraped sharply against the floor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1423\">Now people were standing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1434\">Watching.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1484\">Fear slowly replaced irritation across the room.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1526\">Eli reached calmly into his coat pocket.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1528\" data-end=\"1560\">Several bikers instantly tensed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1607\">But he only pulled out an old silver lighter.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1670\">A skull engraved on the side reflected beneath the neon glow.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1672\" data-end=\"1701\">The room changed immediately.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1748\">Every patched biker in the bar recognized it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1750\" data-end=\"1782\">The lighter belonged to one man.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1784\" data-end=\"1848\">A ghost story whispered across biker clubs from Texas to Nevada.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2027\">\u201cThat lighter\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2029\" data-end=\"2057\">Eli finally looked up fully.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2059\" data-end=\"2112\">And for the first time, real danger entered the room.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2150\">\u201cYeah,\u201d he said softly. \u201cIt\u2019s mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2152\" data-end=\"2184\">Silence swallowed the bar whole.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2274\">Outside, motorcycle engines suddenly roared into the dirt parking lot one after another.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2276\"
