red emergency lights pulsing through the windows.<\/p>\n<p>Panic spread instantly.<\/p>\n<p>One terrified recruit whispered\u2014<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh God\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then\u2014<\/p>\n<p>boots.<\/p>\n<p>Slow.<br \/>\nHeavy.<br \/>\nApproaching through the rain outside.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone froze.<\/p>\n<p>The barracks door handle slowly turned.<\/p>\n<p>CLICK.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Reed raised his pistol toward the entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Brooks stepped backward defensively.<\/p>\n<p>The door creaked open.<\/p>\n<p>And standing beneath the flashing red emergency lights\u2014<\/p>\n<p>was a masked armed mercenary holding a rifle.<\/p>\n<p>Before anyone could react\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Rachel moved.<\/p>\n<p>FAST.<\/p>\n<p>Faster than anyone in the room could process.<\/p>\n<p>She grabbed Brooks\u2019 wrist.<br \/>\nTwisted violently.<\/p>\n<p>CRACK.<\/p>\n<p>His combat knife dropped directly into her hand.<\/p>\n<p>One smooth motion\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Rachel launched forward through the darkness.<\/p>\n<p>The blade slammed into the mercenary\u2019s shoulder before he could fire.<\/p>\n<p>The rifle exploded upward
