The frozen wasteland remained deathly silent beneath the screaming arctic wind.<\/p>\n

The tactical agent lay flat against the ice beside the black opening.<\/p>\n

Gun trembling in his gloved hands.<\/p>\n

His terrified eyes searched the freezing water below.<\/p>\n

But there was nothing.<\/p>\n

No bubbles.
\nNo movement.<\/p>\n

Only darkness beneath the cracked ice.<\/p>\n

The second agent slowly stepped backward.<\/p>\n

Fear spreading across his face beneath the frost-covered tactical mask.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t possible\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Then suddenly\u2014<\/p>\n

the water exploded upward.<\/p>\n

A violent eruption shattered the silence as something launched from beneath the ice.<\/p>\n

The kneeling agent barely had time to scream before a black-gloved hand grabbed his throat.<\/p>\n

The sound vanished into the storm.<\/p>\n

The man disappeared instantly into the freezing water below.<\/p>\n

The second agent stumbled backward in horror across the ice shelf.<\/p>\n

Snow whipped violently across the frozen landscape while dark water churned beneath the opening again.<\/p>\n

she emerged.<\/p>\n

The woman climbed silently onto the ice.<\/p>\n

Soaked black tactical suit clinging to her body beneath the blizzard winds.<\/p>\n

Freezing water streamed from her gloves and boots.<\/p>\n

she wasn\u2019t shivering.<\/p>\n

Not even slightly.<\/p>\n

The surviving agent raised his handgun with shaking hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should be dead!\u201d<\/p>\n

The woman slowly lifted her head.<\/p>\n

Ice-covered strands of dark hair moved across her face beneath the storm.<\/p>\n

Cold gray eyes locked onto him.<\/p>\n

Emotionless.<\/p>\n

Predatory.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou buried me once already.\u201d<\/p>\n

The agent\u2019s breathing became ragged.<\/p>\n

Because he recognized that voice.<\/p>\n

Agent Lena Volkov.<\/p>\n

Officially killed during Operation Frost Veil two years earlier.<\/p>\n

Except now\u2014<\/p>\n

standing beneath the arctic storm\u2014<\/p>\n

she looked like something death itself had failed to keep.<\/p>\n

The surviving agent backed away again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are you?!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lena said nothing.<\/p>\n

Only reached slowly toward the combat knife strapped against her frozen leg.<\/p>\n

SHINK.<\/p>\n

The blade slid free beneath the screaming wind.<\/p>\n

The agent fired instantly.<\/p>\n

BANG.<\/p>\n

The bullet tore across the storm\u2014<\/p>\n

but Lena moved before the sound even finished echoing.<\/p>\n

Impossible speed across the ice.<\/p>\n

The agent\u2019s terrified eyes widened.<\/p>\n

Then suddenly\u2014<\/p>\n

she stood directly in front of him.<\/p>\n

The handgun fell uselessly into the snow.<\/p>\n

Lena grabbed his tactical vest violently and slammed him against the frozen ground.<\/p>\n

Cracks spread across the ice beneath his body.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou sold our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her voice stayed calm.<\/p>\n

Which terrified him even more.<\/p>\n

The man shook uncontrollably beneath her grip.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were ordered to!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy who?\u201d<\/p>\n

The storm howled louder.<\/p>\n

The man\u2019s lips trembled.<\/p>\n

Then quietly\u2014<\/p>\n

\u201cDirector Vale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Silence.<\/p>\n

Only the arctic wind screaming across endless white emptiness.<\/p>\n

Lena\u2019s eyes darkened instantly.<\/p>\n

Because Director Vale was the same man who declared her dead.<\/p>\n

The same man who erased her entire unit after Frost Veil failed.<\/p>\n

The agent stared up at her desperately.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

For one long moment\u2014<\/p>\n

she simply watched him beneath the storm.<\/p>\n

Then slowly\u2014<\/p>\n

The man gasped desperately for air while crawling backward across the cracked ice.<\/p>\n

Lena picked up his fallen handgun calmly.<\/p>\n

Then tossed it far into the darkness.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t deserve a soldier\u2019s death.\u201d<\/p>\n

The agent froze in terror.<\/p>\n

Lena turned away from him toward the endless frozen horizon.<\/p>\n

Snow swirling violently around her black silhouette.<\/p>\n

Then suddenly\u2014<\/p>\n

a helicopter light appeared far beyond the storm clouds.<\/p>\n

Searching.<\/p>\n

Coming closer.<\/p>\n

Lena looked upward slowly.<\/p>\n

Cold realization settling into her expression.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey sent more.\u201d<\/p>\n

The surviving agent\u2019s face filled with horror.<\/p>\n

Because if they sent extraction teams\u2014<\/p>\n

that meant only one thing.<\/p>\n

Nobody was supposed to leave the ice alive.<\/p>\n

And standing there beneath the black arctic sky\u2014<\/p>\n

the terrified agent finally understood the truth.<\/p>\n

The woman they tried to drown beneath the ice\u2026<\/p>\n
