Another reached for his vest pocket where a handgun rested hidden beneath leather.<\/p>\n<p>Reaper stayed perfectly still.<\/p>\n<p>Too still.<\/p>\n<p>Dangerously still.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat address?\u201d he asked quietly.<\/p>\n<p>Emma gave it to him.<\/p>\n<p>The reaction was immediate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s one of Kessler\u2019s properties,\u201d someone snapped.<\/p>\n<p>Outside\u2014<\/p>\n<p>a black SUV suddenly rolled past the diner windows slowly.<\/p>\n<p>Then another.<\/p>\n<p>Every biker turned instantly.<\/p>\n<p>Tinted windows.<\/p>\n<p>No plates visible.<\/p>\n<p>Watching.<\/p>\n<p>Emma saw them too and panicked. \u201cThose are his men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The engines outside thundered louder as club members climbed onto motorcycles one by one.<\/p>\n<p>Reaper stood slowly to his full height, towering over the diner floor while slipping Ghost\u2019s photograph into his vest.<\/p>\n<p>Then he wrapped his heavy leather jacket gently around Emma\u2019s shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen carefully,\u201d he said softly.<\/p>\n<p>She looked up at him through tears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom this moment on\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The black SUVs stopped across the highway.<\/p>\n<p>Doors began opening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026nobody takes another thing from Ghost.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The diner stayed silent long after the engines outside started roaring.
