The diner fell completely silent.

The bikers who had been laughing moments earlier now stared nervously through the windows as the black SUVs surrounded the building.

Rainwater glistened beneath the headlights outside.

Every door of the vehicles opened at the exact same time.

Men in dark suits stepped out with calm, disciplined movements.

No wasted motion.

No panic.

No hesitation.

The kind of men trained for violence.

Inside the diner, the mood changed instantly.

The biker who kicked the old man’s cane tried forcing another laugh, but it came out weak.

“You seriously called bodyguards?” he muttered.

The old man slowly brushed dust from his coat and picked up the fallen cane.

His hands never shook.

His breathing never changed.

And somehow… that made him even more frightening.

The diner waitress backed quietly toward the kitchen.

Even she could feel something was wrong.

Very wrong.

The leader of the bikers, a massive man with tattooed knuckles named Briggs, stepped closer with fake confidence.

“You trying to scare us, old timer?”

The old man looked at him calmly.

“No,” he said softly. “If I wanted to scare you… they would’ve entered already.”

As if on command, the suited men outside remained perfectly still beside the SUVs.

Watching.

Waiting.

Briggs glanced toward the window again.

Now he noticed the earpieces.

The gloves.

The cold expressions.

Not hired muscle.

Professionals.

The old man walked slowly back to his booth and sat down carefully.

Then he placed the black key fob on the table.

“You boys made one mistake tonight,” he said.

Briggs smirked nervously. “And what’s that?”

“You assumed I was weak.”

One of the younger bikers suddenly frowned.

“Wait…”

His eyes widened as he looked closer at the old man’s face.

“I know him.”

Nobody answered.

The young biker’s voice became shaky.

“That’s Victor Kane.”

The room froze.

Even Briggs stopped smiling.

Years earlier, Victor Kane’s name spread through newspapers, courtrooms, and criminal empires across the country.

Former intelligence operative.

Security billionaire.

A man rumored to have dismantled entire crime networks without ever appearing in public.

And according to rumors…

the cane wasn’t because he was fragile.

It was because someone once tried to kill him and failed.

Victor looked toward Briggs quietly.

“You threatened an old man because you thought nobody would protect him.”

Briggs swallowed hard but tried standing his ground. “We didn’t know who you were.”

Victor gave a slow nod.

“That’s true.”

Then his expression hardened for the first time.

“But you also didn’t know who the waitress is.”

The entire diner turned toward the frightened waitress near the kitchen door.

She looked confused. “Sir…?”

Victor’s eyes softened slightly.

“She’s my daughter.”

Silence crashed over the room again.

Briggs’ face lost all color.

Because suddenly the black SUVs outside no longer looked like protection.

They looked like judgment.
