Only the flickering neon sign buzzed above them.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"523\">From the darkness behind the fuel pumps, a tall man stepped forward wearing a long black coat. His face stayed hidden beneath the shadow of his hood.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"525\" data-end=\"581\">\u201cYou should\u2019ve stayed buried, Mason,\u201d the stranger said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"619\">The biker\u2019s jaw tightened instantly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"632\">Mason Reed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"634\" data-end=\"675\">Former road captain of the Iron Vultures.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"724\">A man everyone believed had died ten years ago.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"788\">The little girl looked between them nervously. \u201cYou know him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"790\" data-end=\"850\">Mason didn\u2019t answer. That was his mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1055\">At the mention of Harper Clark, memories crashed into Mason\u2019s mind like thunder.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1095\">The fire.<br \/>\nThe gunshots.<br \/>\nThe screaming.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1182\">And Harper falling to the ground while the rest of the crew scattered into the night.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1315\">For years, Mason believed a rival gang had betrayed them. That\u2019s what everyone was told. But deep down, something never felt right.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1366\">Now the truth was standing right in front of him.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1401\">\u201cYou sold us out,\u201d Mason growled.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1483\">Cole stepped closer under the dim light. \u201cI saved myself. There\u2019s a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1485\" data-end=\"1545\">The little girl slowly backed away, confused and frightened.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1650\">\u201cMy mother said Harper hid something before he died,\u201d she whispered. \u201cSomething people would kill for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1652\" data-end=\"1700\">Mason looked at her sharply. \u201cWhat\u2019s your name?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1709\">\u201cEmma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1774\">The moment she answered, Mason\u2019s expression changed completely.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1776\" data-end=\"1859\">Harper once showed him a photo of a newborn daughter wrapped in a hospital blanket.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1861\" data-end=\"1866\">Emma.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1886\">Harper\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"1957\">Cole noticed it too.
