No one stops her.<\/p>\n<p>Because no one can move.<\/p>\n<p>Not yet.<\/p>\n<p>The biker stands.<\/p>\n<p>His chair scrapes loudly against the floor, but it feels distant.<\/p>\n<p>Like it\u2019s happening somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re supposed to be dead,\u201d one of the men mutters.<\/p>\n<p>Elise finally looks around the room.<\/p>\n<p>Her gaze moves over each face.<\/p>\n<p>One by one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey all are,\u201d she says calmly. \u201cTo the right people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence tightens again.<\/p>\n<p>The biker steps closer to her.<\/p>\n<p>Not rushed.<\/p>\n<p>Not hesitant.<\/p>\n<p>Careful.<\/p>\n<p>Like approaching something that might disappear if he moves too fast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere have you been?\u201d he asks.<\/p>\n<p>Her eyes flicker\u2014just for a second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurviving,\u201d she replies.<\/p>\n<p>That single word carries years inside it.<\/p>\n<p>The biker exhales, something heavy shifting in his chest. \u201cWe thought\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know what you thought,\u201d she cuts in.<\/p>\n<p>Not angry.<\/p>\n<p>Not soft.<\/p>\n<p>Just\u2026 certain.<\/p>\n<p>Her gaze sharpens slightly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I didn\u2019t come back for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now it changes.<\/p>\n<p>The air.<\/p>\n<p>The reason.<\/p>\n<p>Everything.<\/p>\n<p>The men in the diner straighten instinctively.<\/p>\n<p>Because this isn\u2019t just a reunion.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s something else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen why are you here?\u201d the biker asks quietly.<\/p>\n<p>Elise glances toward the door for a brief second.<\/p>\n<p>Then back at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause what happened back then\u2026\u201d she says slowly, \u201cwasn\u2019t finished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A ripple moves through the room.<\/p>\n<p>The past.<\/p>\n<p>That night.<\/p>\n<p>The one none of them talk about.<\/p>\n<p>The one they buried.<\/p>\n<p>The biker\u2019s jaw tightens. \u201cWe buried that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She shakes her head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Her voice drops slightly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou buried <em>part<\/em> of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That lands harder than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>Because deep down\u2014<\/p>\n<p>they all know what she means.<\/p>\n<p>The little girl stands near the door now, watching silently.<\/p>\n<p>Waiting.<\/p>\n<p>Elise takes one step closer to the biker.<\/p>\n<p>Close enough that there\u2019s no distance left between past and present.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re still out there,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd now\u2014they know I\u2019m alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The room goes cold.<\/p>\n<p>Not from fear.<\/p>\n<p>From realization.<\/p>\n<p>Because if she\u2019s here\u2014<\/p>\n<p>it means something followed.<\/p>\n<p>Or something is coming.<\/p>\n<p>The biker doesn\u2019t look away.<\/p>\n<p>Not anymore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we don\u2019t sit,\u201d he says quietly.<\/p>\n<p>He turns slightly, just enough for the others to hear without needing to raise his voice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe finish it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chairs scrape.<\/p>\n<p>Boots shift.<\/p>\n<p>The calm diner disappears completely.<\/p>\n<p>Because this was never just a meeting.<\/p>\n<p>It was a signal.<\/p>\n<p>And now\u2014<\/p>\n<p>whatever was left unfinished\u2026<\/p>\n<p>is about to begin again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The door opens slowly.
